Anti Snap Back Mooring Rope
Reduce mooring-related injury and fatality risks. Ensure Your Mooring Safety
Anti Snap Back Mooring Rope
Duracordix Anti Snap Back (ASB) Mooring Ropes are engineered to reduce snap-back risks during your mooring operations. When rope fails and breaks, the anti-coil mooring rope can gradually absorb and dissipate recoil energy; it helps you minimize hazards to your crew and equipment while ensuring your safer mooring operations.
Duracordix anti-recoil mooring ropes have a dual-structure energy absorption design; they combine a 12-strand single-braided rope with an independently structured 3-strand nylon core.
The 12 strand braided layer is available in two options:
- HMPE ASB Mooring Rope made from high-strength UHMWPE fiber
- PP & PET ASB Mooring Rope made from blended PP and PET fibers
Types Of ASB Mooring Rope

Key Advantages
- High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: UHMWPE rope is 10 to 15 times stronger than steel wire rope at the same weight. At the same strength , it weighs only 1/7 of steel wire rope, it's very lightweight and easy for you to handle
- Lower Stored Energy Compared to Wire Rope: Unlike steel wire ropes, UHMWPE ASB mooring ropes release recoil energy slowly and with minimal snap-back force during failure, it improves safety in your FPSO mooring operations.
- Enhanced Crew Safety in Snap-Back Zones: Reduced recoil mooring line reduces the risk exposure in snap-back zones and ensures your deck safety compliance under OCIMF MEG4 guidelines.
- Reduced Vessel Downtime: it's lightweight and easy to handle help reduce your mooring time and downtime caused by rope recoil accident.
- Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): It saves your time for mooring operations as it's lightweight, and the snap-back risk also lowers your overall lifecycle cost.
- Easy Inspection & Maintenance: it does not rust or corrode, and it is very easy for you to inspect the rope damage, wire, and fiber degradation visually.
How Anti Snap Back Rope Works
1. Normal Load Distribution: During normal mooring operation, the 12-strand HMPE rope or 12-strand PP & PET mixed rope carries the working load; it provides you high strength and controlled elongation. Meanwhile, the internal 3-strand nylon core remains unloaded.
2. Overload Failure: When the mooring rope is subjected to overload, your entire rope system (including the outer 12-strand rope and internal nylon core) will break and fail
3. Energy Absorption & Reduced Snap-Back: As the rope fails, the outer 12-strand rope breaks first, while the internal nylon rope core can absorb a large amount of stored energy due to its high elongation (up to 30%). This significantly reduces snap-back force and helps you protect crew members and equipment.

FAQs
Answers to Your Energy Absorbing Mooring Rope and Questions – Get Informed!
What Is Snap-Back Risk in Mooring Operations?
During mooring operations, if your mooring line is overloaded beyond its breaking strength, it may fail and snap back, and creates a serious risk to your crew and equipment.
Steel wire mooring ropes are particularly hazardous due to their low elongation, it can release stored energy violently upon failure. Traditional HMPE, PP, and polyester mooring ropes can also generate recoil forces.
To reduce snap-back risk, Duracordix Anti Snap-Back Mooring Ropes incorporate a specially designed high-elongation(up to 30%) nylon core that absorbs and dissipates stored energy, it can keep a more controlled recoil and safer mooring operations.
How about your lead time?
Duracordix understands your concerns about lead time, especially if your project is urgent. when we have stock, we can arrange the delivery in 2 days and if there is no stock, we can produce it for you based on your purchase quantity; the time may range from 6 days to 50 days.
What is the best rope for Anti snap back mooring?
UHMWPE, as a material, boasts a range of advantages over traditional netting materials. It's notably lightweight, has unparalleled abrasion resistance, and tends to have a longer lifespan. This translates into more efficient fishing operations, reduced replacement costs, and enhanced overall value.
