What is Mooring Pendant?
Duracordix HMPE mooring pendant lines are high-performance ropes made from high-quality fibers, designed to securely connect a vessel's bow to a mooring buoy. As a critical component of the mooring system, they effectively secure the vessel and withstand the forces of wind, waves, and tides.
Traditionally, nylon mooring pendant have been widely used due to their high elasticity. However, in recent years, due to the demand for higher tensile strength and greater durability, HMPE mooring pendant have become the preferred choice for an increasing number of boat owners.
What size of mooring pendant do I need?
Duracordix recommends that you choose a mooring pendant length that is 2.5 times the height of the bow above the waterline. For example, if the bow height is 10 feet, your mooring pendant length should be 25 feet. Duracordix can provide mooring pendants of different lengths to meet your specific needs.
Regarding the breaking strength of pendant line, it is usually determined based on the displacement of the vessel. Generally, the minimum breaking strength of the mooring pendant should be 3 to 5 times the vessel's displacement. For example, if the vessel's displacement is 20 tons, the required breaking strength of the mooring ropes should be between 60 and 100 tons.

Yes, our HMPE mooring pendants are made from 12 strands of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), with a density of 0.97, which is lower than the density of water, so it floats on the surface. Additionally, we can manufacture them in bright colors such as blue, red, and yellow, making them easy to spot on the water.
